One of the burning questions that every new Virtual Assistant asks is, “Where do I actually find clients?” When you’re just starting out, it can feel overwhelming trying to figure out where to find your first paying gig and how to get your foot in the Virtual Assistant door. My biggest piece of advise is to utilize Facebook groups.

When you’re just starting out, it can feel overwhelming trying to figure out where to find your first paying gig and how to get your foot in the Virtual Assistant door. My biggest piece of advise - and what I go more in-depth in inside my signature program, Becoming a Virtual Assistant - is to utilize Facebook groups. You heard me.

Facebook Groups are an absolute game-changer for growing your Virtual Assistant (aka VA) business. They’re not just a place to connect with others on the same journey—they’re also packed with job leads and valuable insights from experienced VA and potential clients. I landed my first few VA clients through these exact groups.

Getting your first client is the hardest part, and it really isn't that challenging! Once you have the experience from your first client, you can focus on referrals from that client for your second, third, fourth client, etc! Word of mouth is so powerful in any industry. Everyone knows someone who knows someones who needs YOUR support!

But before you dive in, there are a few things you need to know:

1: Many groups require you to answer approval questions before joining. Be sure to fill them out completely. I recommend keeping a list of your common answers saved somewhere - like a Google Doc or Notes app - so you can quickly copy and paste.

2: When applying for VA jobs, follow up every 48 hours! Stay organized with a Trello board or a simple spreadsheet to track your leads and remind you to follow up.

These are my top groups for finding jobs.

This is just a sneak peek of my free guide. Inside this guide, I’ve rounded up my top Facebook groups for virtual assistants—organized into three key categories. While there are tons of groups out there, these are the ones I recommend most for building connections, learning from others, and landing clients.
