This week has been all about finding connection. I started the year staying with my best friends in Victoria. As humans who also work from home and a dog that loves cuddles, It was the best for lounging at home. During this week, I BOUGHT A TICKET TO MEXICO. My good pal Cassia back home messaged me out of the blue, and it said “Wanna go to Cabo!!!!!” to which I responded “Hell yea”.

Part Two - January 2023.
Date: Jan 2nd to Jan 8th 2023
Currently in: Whistler BC, Canada
Lessons I’ve learned: Travel days are hard. Friends are Important. I would like to honour my business more.

No hesitation. No overthinking. 2023 is my year to expand my comfort zone. To say YES to adventures and not hold myself back. So she bought us both a ticket. The craziest part is hers a round trip ticket and mine is a one way. We’ll have a week in beautiful, sunny Cabo together, then I’m on my own. Solo. Alone. In Mexico. Goodbye comfort zone, it’s been real.

After the excitement of booking a mother-fricken trip to Mexico, I said goodbye to the temperamental paradise of Victoria and made my way to Vancouver. My end goal this week was Whistler, which technically you can transit to from Victoria in a day, but that day ends up being close to 10 hours of traveling and it’s not ideal for car sick Carly. I decided to break it up and spend some quality time with my good friend Randi who so graciously opened her home to me in Vancouver. Two birds, one stone. That’s not very vegan friendly.. How about two teas, one scone. I took a late ferry to the mainland and made my way on the bus to the sky train to Gastown! Once I got there I decided to treat myself to a solo dinner date at MeeT. Hello comfort zone expansion. Rarely have I taken myself out solo!

I had a great one day/two nights in Vancouver with Randi. We came, we conquered, we explored, we had deep conversations and healed our inner children with inground trampolines and hammocks suspended over the street. A day with Randi is nourishing for the soul.  Massive amazing croissants from a little cafe are also nourishing to the soul.

With traveling like this, it has shown some weak points in my business and how I approach it. My intention for 2023 is to honour my business more. To treat my business with a respect that I have yet to show it. A lesson that I learned last year was that I did not start a business to work when I want. I started a business to work where I want. I work better in the morning, even if waking up to an alarm is hard. I may sacrifice sleeping in so that I can continue to grow my business and take it around the world with me.

Another lesson that I’ve learned recently is that travel days are hard for me. I get quite car sick or motion sick really. I’ve gotten woozy from a fast moving elevator before. To counter the nausea, I turn to Gravol. The downfall with that is I get drowsy but hey, it’s better than nauseas right? Drowsy, with a lack of real nutrients in the morning generally leads to me feeling off when I arrive at my destination which is exactly what happened when I made it to Whistler. It was a joyous reunion with Chad after 5 weeks apart, but I didn’t feel like myself until I got some food in me. Note to self: Carry more snacks. I’ve got a couple more days in Whistler, enjoying the snow, connecting with friends and doing ALL the puzzles next to the raging fire. Life is grand.

**Alliy took me to a spin class on Jan 3rd, it's the 9th when I’m writing this and my thighs are still burning when I squat. That shit is no joke.
